Somya is a seasoned legal executive with a strong commitment to driving corporate strategy and ensuring regulatory compliance within the technology/SaaS sector. With a wealth of experience advising top executives and board members, she specializes in navigating complex legal landscapes, including international regulatory compliance, AI and innovation, corporate governance, business strategy, enterprise risk management, M&A, and IP, privacy and cybersecurity. Drawing from her background as a former tech CEO, Somya excels in aligning legal risk management with business objectives to foster scalable growth and innovation. In addition to her corporate endeavors, Somya is dedicated to community building and has demonstrated leadership as the founder and former President of the South Asian Bar Association Oregon chapter. She continues to contribute actively to various affiliate bar associations in Oregon while currently serving as the chapter's Treasurer.Before transitioning in-house, Somya honed her litigation skills as a trial attorney in Portland and New York City for over a decade, representing clients in diverse sectors including healthcare, technology, and intellectual property.Complementing her legal practice, Somya is the founder and former CEO of Esq.Me, Inc., a pioneering legal document marketplace. Her thought leadership has been recognized globally, with speaking engagements at prestigious forums such as Forbes, Microsoft, Thomson Reuters Legal UK, GeekWire, NY LegalWeek, and MIT Executive MBA. She has been named several times as a thought leader in the legal technology space, including being the recipient of Fastcase's Top 50 Innovators, an award that honors "the law’s smartest, most courageous innovators, techies, visionaries, & leaders".Currently serving as an adjunct faculty member at The Lewis & Clark Law School and a member of the Oregon State Bar’s IP Executive Committee, Somya brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to her roles.In September 2023, Somya relocated to Chicago, Illinois, while maintaining active membership in the Oregon State Bar and the New York State Bar.Outside of work, Somya enjoys spending time with her family, playing music and practicing meditation/yoga.
